What Is an Iced London Fog Tea Latte?
Have you ever been to a cafe and wondered what the “Iced London Fog Tea Latte” on the menu is all about?
An iced London Fog tea latte is a tea latte made with Earl Grey tea. The latte is cut with milk, then sweetened with vanilla and lavender syrup.
The cold version of a London Fog tea latte is iced and sometimes comes with a cold foam topping. Here’s my favorite recipe for a hot London Fog drink. This drink is also called an Earl Gray tea latte because it’s made with bergamot laced Earl Gray tea.

How to Make an Iced London Fog Tea Latte
Making an iced London Fog tea latte recipe requires only a few ingredients and supplies. It’s super similar to the hot drink version, just served over ice.
These are the main ingredients that you need to make your own London Fog iced tea latte at home:
- Tea: The type of tea traditionally used in London Fog tea drinks is a classic Earl Grey tea, which is a black tea laced with the flavors of bergamot. You can use regular Earl Grey tea bags, but my secret ingredient in this tea is Breakfast in Paris tea. This flavored Earl Grey tea blend has lavender and vanilla already blended in.
- Milk: The type of milk used in a London Fog tea iced latte can be your choice. Regular milk can be used if you like dairy, while coconut milk, almond milk, and oat milk are all good plant-based milk alternatives.
- Sweeteners: An iced London Fog tea latte can be sweetened with either simple syrup or vanilla syrup. You could even use maple syrup, but it will give the drink a stronger taste. Since it is a cold drink, liquid sweeteners are preferred because they mix in better.
- Flavorings: London Fog tea lattes are flavored with vanilla and culinary lavender. A vanilla syrup can be made by mixing simple syrup with vanilla extract, while a lavender simple syrup can be made by simmering culinary lavender buds in syrup instead.
- Ice cubes: Ice cubes are used to chill the London Fog tea latte and help keep it cold after serving. If cold foam is used, ice cubes also help keep the foam from melting too quickly.
An iced London Fog tea latte doesn’t have many ingredients, and it’s easy to substitute in replacements if there is one you don’t like.
Supplies for Making Iced London Fog Tea Latte
Along with the above ingredients, you’ll also need a few basic supplies and pieces of equipment for making an iced London Fog tea latte.
Here are some extra supplies that you’ll need:
- Mason jar: If you decide to make your iced tea latte with an Earl Grey tea concentrate, you’ll need a Mason jar or other sealed container to store it in. This concentrate can be made ahead and used several days in a row to save time during preparation in the mornings.
- Milk frother: A handheld milk frother is a cheap tool to make cold foam for the top of your iced London Fog tea latte. If you’re in a more spendy mood, I love this fancy milk steamer/frother gadget. It’s amazing because you can make both hot and cold frothed milk with it.
- Pot for brewing tea: If you’re using fresh Earl Grey tea instead of a premade cold tea concentrate, you’ll need a pot to brew the tea before adding other ingredients.
Keep in mind that for an iced London Fog drink you’ll want your tea to be chilled before you start, so brew your Earl Grey the night before if you want a nice cold drink in the morning.

Steps for Making Iced London Fog Tea Latte
The first step for making an iced London Fog tea latte is to prepare the tea. Since this is an iced drink, the easiest way to make tea for the latte is to make an Earl Grey tea concentrate.
To make tea for the iced London Fog, perform the following:
- Heat the water. Heat a pot of water to boiling, with one ounce of water for every teaspoon of tea you’re planning to brew. Concentrates should be brewed at double strength compared to a normal pot of tea. Allow the hot tea to cool.
- Make the simple syrup. Add 1/2 cup of granulated brown sugar or white sugar to 1/2 cup of water. Heat on the stovetop and stir until the sugar is completely melted. You can also use premade vanilla syrup if you’re short on time.
- Flavor the simple syrup. If you’re making this syrup just for London Fogs, you can add a tablespoon of lavender and a teaspoon of vanilla extract directly to the syrup and simmer for ten minutes. Strain the syrup to remove the used lavender buds.
- Assemble the iced London Fog latte. To assemble an iced London Fog tea latte, start with a glass of ice, then strain the tea or tea concentrate over the ice. Add a tablespoon of flavored simple syrup and 1/2 cup of milk. Stir to combine.
- Garnish the iced London Fog tea latte. Use a milk frother to make a cold foam for the surface of the tea latte and sprinkle a few dried culinary lavender buds over the foam’s surface.
This milk frother/steamer is pricy, but it makes wicked good frothed milk and cold foam!
And there you have it – a bracing cold Earl Grey tea latte to spruce up your hot summer days.
Note that you can adjust the amount of flavored syrup to adjust the sweetness of your tea to make it more or less sweet according to your preferences.

Iced London Fog Tea Latte
This Starbuck's copycat Iced London Fog Tea Latte (Earl Grey Tea Latte) is the perfect pick me up to refresh you on a hot day.
Ingredients
- 1 Stash Breakfast in Paris teabag or equivalent loose tea
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup of milk (choose your favorite)
- 1 tablespoon Torani vanilla-flavored syrup
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Pour boiling water over tea and let steep for 3 minutes.
- Remove tea bag and refrigerate brewed tea until cool.
- When tea is cool, stir in vanilla syrup.
- If desired, froth the cold milk.
- Pour sweetened tea over ice.
- Pour in the frothed milk and enjoy!
Notes
This drink is also delicious hot and comes together much faster since you don't need to chill your tea. To save time, brew up your tea the night before and refrigerate in a sealed container.
