Once you start making a batch of matcha smoothies for your breakfast bowls, your whole life will change. You can double or triple the ingredients in this recipe, wrap it up with plastic wrap in a safe freezer bag, and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

For this recipe, you’ll only need frozen kiwis, bananas, matcha, a blender, and just 5 minutes. That’s it. That’s how easy it is to put together.

Tips for Making the Perfect Matcha Smoothie Bowl:

  • This matcha smoothie bowl recipe is thick, smooth, and almost tastes like ice cream. But if you want a thicker consistency, add a scoop of homemade matcha ice cream. Here’s a super simple recipe you’ll love.
  • Keep frozen fruits and almond or coconut ice cubes in the freezer to make smoothies when you’re on the go. It’ll save you a ton of money and help you stay on track.
  • Use canned coconut milk for a smoother consistency. It’ll be like having dessert for breakfast!
  • Freeze the bananas and kiwis for at least 3-4 hours before making your smoothie bowl. You can use fresh fruits as well, but the consistency will be a bit runnier.
  • Taste the smoothie mixture as you go, and adjust to taste by adding more bananas or kiwis. You can also mix in some spinach or blueberries to change it up.
  • For a more intense matcha flavor, add another tablespoon, hit the blender, and adjust to taste.
  • If the consistency is too creamy and thick, try adding a little bit of water to thin it out.

Health Benefits of Matcha

  • Matcha is loaded with powerful antioxidants, including EGCg, a powerful catechin that can help fight inflammation, promote weight loss, regulate blood pressure, and may even prevent cancer.
  • It contains a high percentage of dietary fiber.
  • Aside from being the queen of antioxidants, matcha tea can enhance your mood, relax your mind and body, and help improve your concentration and focus.
  • Matcha provides a boost of amino acids, Vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, and selenium which can help your body fight a variety of disease and illness.
  • This green superfood is loaded antioxidants, containing a whopping 137 times more antioxidants a run-of-the-mill low quality green tea. That means that just 1 cup of matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea.

  • Why are antioxidants so important? Antioxidants help protect the body against free radical damage, which play a role in a variety of diseases like cancer and heart disease.
  • Matcha also provides a cleaner caffeine hit thanks to a form of caffeine known as theophylline, which gives you a boost of energy that’s more calming and long lasting.
  • Can help you detox your body naturally and effectively.
  • It can help you clear up skin conditions like acne and can even be used topically as a face mask. How cool is that?
  • Matcha can also help vanish that pesky bacteria in your mouth that causes plaque, which is why so many dentists in Japan recommend swapping coffee for matcha. That doesn’t mean you need to quit your coffee addiction altogether. But if you want to reap more health benefits on the daily, then try sneaking in some matcha in desserts, puddings, and smoothie bowls.
  • The catechins found in matcha have also been linked to weight loss, which is great news for anyone who’s on a diet and is also a big fan of green tea. Studies show that matcha may speed up your metabolism and increase your chances of burning fat. Overall, green tea has shown a promising impact on the body’s ability to burn fat.
  • Lowers sugar levels in the blood and “bad” cholesterol.
  • Consuming matcha may help prevent a number of eye disorders such as glaucoma and cataracts, as it helps the tissues of the eye absorb catechin.
  • Matcha is also packed with a number of antioxidants, epigallocatechin gallate, L-theanine, and polyphenols, which can boost the immune system and protect your overall health.
