Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade

Here is what Starbucks has to say about this deliciously refreshing drink:

Our blend of hibiscus, lemongrass and apple is lightly sweetened and handshaken with ice, lemonade and of course, passion.

With this recipe, you can mix up a whole batch for the price of just one drink at Starbucks!

And if you buy one of these tumblers, people won’t even know that you made it at home!

What Kind of Tea? Tazo or Teavana

So there’s a back story here…

If you go into a Starbucks today, they make their passion tea lemonade with Teavana Passion Tango Herbal Tea.

But….if you went into a Starbuck years ago and ordered a Passion Tea Lemonade, they would have made it with Tazo Passion Tea.

Starbucks used to own Tazo, but sold them off and now are focused on Teavana.

So, either way, you’re going to get a delicious copycat Passion Tea lemonade drink no matter which you choose, Teavana or Tazo.

I use Tazo Passion Tea because it’s easy to find at the grocery store, Target, etc.

What’s In Passion Tea?

The passion fruit is actually a seedy, fleshy tropical fruit that comes from the passionflower vine.

But what’s in the tea are actually the passion flowers.

The Tazo Passion Tea is an herbal blend containing:

  • Hibiscus tea
  • Lemongrass
  • Orange peel
  • Rosehips
  • Passion fruit flavors

This herbal tea has no caffeine, and the orange peel and lemongrass give it a refreshing flavor and aroma.

Interestingly, it’s actually the hibiscus flowers that give passion tea it’s beautiful vibrant red color.

How To Make Passion Tea Lemonade

The Passion Tea Lemonade recipe is easy to make, but you need to plan ahead to make sure you have enough time to cool your freshly brewed tea.

I like to make a big batch and keep it in the refrigerator. Then I can just pour some over ice and I’m ready for refreshment.

This is my favorite pitcher. It’s awesome because it can go from hot to cold:

  1. Boil water and remove from heat.
  2. Add tea bags and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Discard tea bags and transfer the hot tea to the refrigerator to cool.
  4. Once cool, fill glasses with ice.
  5. Add 1/4 lemonade and 3/4 cup passion tea.
  6. Adjust the lemonade/tea ratio to suit your taste and add sugar or simple syrup to sweeten.

I make my tea in advance and keep it chilled in a pitcher in the fridge, along with a container of lemonade.
